Fall in love with the Alexander family sheep farm, just as acclaimed director Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey through the unequivocal beauty of the land with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will escort you around the set, showing the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the movie magic was made. You will be fully-guided around the 12-acre set: past the colourful Hobbit Hole™ doors that scatter the hillsides, before arriving at Bagshot Row™ for a glimpse of the interior of a humble Hobbit’s home. Finally, you will arrive at the world-famous Green Dragon™ Inn where you will receive a complimentary, exclusive Hobbit™ Southfarthing™ beverage to conclude your own Middle-earth™ adventure.

5.00Honestly, as a lord of the rings fan. This has been a dream. The level of immersiveness you get when touring this place is unreal. I really felt like I was in the Shire. You even get to drink their BEER!!!
Plan ahead coming from Auckland is 2 hrs driving lot to do in the area

5.00Absolutely spectacular experience and a must-do for any LotR fan. The love and care put into the sets and environment is apparent, and stepping into the full size hobbit hole is a magical feeling. We also did the lunch add-on, which was completely worth it if you have time.

5.00Fantastic tour for Shire to Set and back. Georgia was our guide and she was brilliant. Loads of knowledge and interesting facts delivered really well. The food at the lunch buffet was also great too.
And xpertguide on a fabulous tour. We could have been in the movie!

5.00Wonderful experience and a must for anyone visiting New Zealand. We did the Behind the Scenes tour and it was so worth it! We saw a lot of things other tours didn't like the workrooms the staff build the houses in. We also had a wonderful feast with our group in a special room (if your doing this bring a drink from the Green Dragon with you!) We also got to check out the hobbit houses to the side built for the Hobbit that the main tour doesnt get to see. Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and fun and gave us a lot of cool facts. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves LoTR.
