Zurich has a beautiful, historic old town. Many of the buildings are several hundred years old. In small, private groups, we, two local residents, will guide you for about two hours through winding alleys and cosy squares, right across the old town on both sides of the Limmat river. We will visit places where you can feel the rich history of the city and which can only be reached via special access.

I came to Zürich for a couple of days on my own before a business trip, and booked the tour with Der Nachtwanderer. I often do this in cities and this tour exceeded my expectations. Maria came to Switzerland I believe over 20 years ago, and loves the city and it's history. She showed me so many wonderful places — the university where Einstein studied, two beautiful and important churches with gorgeous stained glass windows and significant history with the Reformation, a portion of the original city wall, and images and relics from the city dating back to at least the 12 century. The stories Maria told really brought things to life for me, such that the next day when I was walking around alone, they came back to me, and I really felt like I knew the city somewhat well at a deeper level. Her fondness for Zurich is contagious. Highly recommend this tour.

Maria was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide! She took us to places we never would have known about. This made our short time in Zurich even better. The Historic District is a very special area. Highly recommend this tour.

Walking around the old town was interesting. The ride in the funicular was good and some of our stops provided tit bits of information about the city.

Walking tour was wonderful. Maria kept it very informative and with many interesting stories of the past. She lived in Zurich for long time and you could tell she had much pride of Zurich. We took our time thru the city on both sides of the river. Very good and I recommend it highly.
