Wai-O-Tapu
The Mud Pool at Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, near Rotorua, is one of New Zealand's most active geothermal features. It consists of bubbling, boiling mud created by underground geothermal activity. The thick, grey mud constantly bubbles due to the release of volcanic gases, offering a fascinating display of nature’s raw power. The Mud Pool sits in a crater formed by a volcanic eruption and is a popular attraction for visitors interested in geothermal phenomena.

This was a very good excursion. It was raining but it didn’t stop anything we did. It just rained on /off. The Geysers were very cool Lady Knox blew her top as scheduled and then we went to the park of countless volcanic craters. After that we went to the Redwood forest which was outstanding and finally to the Blue Springs which were truly blue. The triple deal was well worth it. Beware, it’s a long day!!

The tour wasn't anything incredible. The guide plays an AI generated audio that describes things on the drive every once and a while so felt very detached and not very genuine. Not much effort has gone into the touring part which was disappointing considering how expensive it is and that you don't really get to see a huge amount or learn anything from the guide. Tour doesn't include entry to the treetop walk either which was a let down considering how much you pay for the tour. The small tour group was nice and the guide was friendly.

It was a long day but enjoyable. Having the different stops broke up the day. I would have like to have more time at Blue Springs. We stopped for breakfast and lunch. There were several bathroom breaks as well.

Need to walk fast and only need to walk 1/2 #3 walk at Waitopu so that you can have some time see other half of park. 40 min breakfast break should have been shorter to give more time at park

It is the tour that takes you to nature. Beaucoio de minde at the Geyser, a little less for the visit of the caldera. The afternoon is great with the visit of the forest then a river with perfectly clear water

Lots of things to see! One person on the tour was late to their pickup in the morning, meaning we missed the first thing on the itenerary, in order to see the timed geyser eruption, but our guide made sure we saw it at the end of the day.
