Piha Beach is gorgeous as was the portion of the rain forest that we walked through. Our guide, Kevin, was fantastic. We learned a lot from him and we liked his sense of humor. Steve was our driver and he did a good job also. I highly recommend this tour!

We really enjoyed this tour. The hotel pick-up was very efficient and made it easy for us at the start and end of the day. The guides were friendly and informative, and the group size was neither too big or too small. Sufficient time was offered at the three main locations (the information centre/lookout, the forest and the beach) that it never felt rushed. In fact, the forest was quite relaxing. Overall, it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon outside of Auckland.

Fantastic and educational tour. Guides Kevin and Steven were wonderful to spend an afternoon with exploring the beautiful west coast of the North Island. The group we were with were all very respectful and the locations we visited had minimal crowds. The general relaxed vibe and atmosphere of the tour was wonderful - starting off with a quick stop at a local bakery, heading to Piha and experiencing the stunning beach, then being treated to a beverage and snack before heading to Kitekite bush walk and immersing ourselves in the wonderful greenery and nature. Kia ora and thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Loved every single moment of the tour. Both Kevin and Steve were awesome guys, full of knowledge and they made it so good with their personal touch. Very accommodating, they picked me up from my hotel in Henderson and dropped me off at the same place. We visited the places as per the itinerary and it was worth it, I highly recommend this tour, if anyone is looking for half a day of fun. Thank You Kevin and Steve :)

This was a perfect excursion for the day after some long flights!!. Our guide Noel was excellent: local so very knowledgeable, great communicator, and patient to answer all our questions. We loved the walk through beautiful, subtropical rain forest, just amazing ecosystem! Beautiful black sand of Piha beach and the Tasmania was breathtaking. Would love to come back and spend more time! Lunch from the local cafe was great! Highly recommend this excursion!

Fun & educational afternoon bus tour with top-tier tour guides. Could easily have enjoyed twice or three times as much time at both Piha Beach and the Waitakere Ranges trails. Well worth the price! Tour Operators - The Beach & Bush staff and drivers were AWESOME. They were chill and friendly, and our tour operator (whose name we missed) cracked us up with his deadpan humour. - Pickup & drop off were both timely, and they went looking for us when we were slightly out of place. - The bus was nice and comfortable. We were able to leave backpacks and such on board at each stop-off point, since one of the operators always stayed with the bus. - The refreshments setup was cute - pulled right out of the back of the bus and set up at Piha. Good tea/coffee, manuka honey samples, and juice/biscuits. - This was an educational experience. We learned about the places we visited, but we also learned about famous New Zealanders, the neighbourhoods we drove through, local food culture etc. Tons of fun and relevant facts. Destinations - Piha Beach is GORGEOUS. We only had ~30 mins here but I easily could have spent a whole day even in chilly weather with light rain. However, 30 mins was enough time to walk half the beach and back + get lots of pics. Do not expect time to swim. - The Waitakere Ranges path we visited was beautiful. It was raining fairly hard when we visited, but they had several spare raincoats available for those who forgot. The rain + sounds of the forest + sounds of the stream felt like a real rainforest experience. There were lots of photo op locations, spots to look/listen for native birds, and info about the local foliage. - The visitor's center we stopped at was very cool, with local Maori history and additional info about plants and wildlife. We visited when they had a temporary power shutdown and it was still well worthwhile. Accessibility - Not sure that this is wheelchair or stroller accessible. - The walking was very easy, more of a stroll than a hike. - Suitable for any level of fitness. - Family-friendly, though not sure babies or toddlers would enjoy this experience. Other Notes - The tour made a brief stop at a shop known for its pies. We grabbed some cold pies for dinner and they definitely deserved their reputation. - The roads are pretty winding. If you are prone to motion sickness, I recommend some anti-nausea meds and potentially a barf bag. However, the driver did a great job and I was actually fine.
