We had a wonderful day at Galle! It was quite hot so we did skip a few sights but we enjoyed whatever we had seen. Mr Lal was a great guide. He shared local insights and was very accommodating!

Lal who was our guide added to the beauty and magnificence of all the sites we saw. He was exceptionally personable and made this one of the best stories we had ever been on. He made sure that we were not only delighted with the day overall but with each stop and what made it a once in a lifetime must see and experience. Simply visiting Columbo in Sri Lanka is not enough. Not only must you take this tour you must insist on Lal as your partner and guide.

We had an excellent day trip exploring Southern Sri Lanka from Colombo. kumaragelal was professional, punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable about the country’s history, culture, and hidden gems. He made the entire journey smooth and enjoyable, pointing out important landmarks, sharing interesting stories, and always making sure we were comfortable

Although the content of this trip was very good the guide and vehicle were inadequate. The vehicle was totally unsuitable for four Seniors with one having to squeeze into the back in a child’s seat. The guide spoke very poor English and gave no commentary on what we saw and he was very sleepy on the way back to the cruise ship which made for a white knuckle ride. We had to pay for some of the contents that was noted on the excursion as being included. Just one example was the stilt fisherman, a sight that we were really looking forward to. it became apparent that this trip was not as it should be after speaking to one couple who did the same trip and had an excellent time.

The driver did not follow the itinerary . We Missed the stilt fishermen experience and the lunch at the beach…….. he took us to a restaurant near madu river. The whole experience was spoilt because we did not get what we expected. Not recommended

Don’t think I would recommend this tour operator, there was no communication beforehand up to the point of a message from the guide 1 hour before start time. We were in Colombo for 7 hours only visiting off a cruise ship. We choose this tour when back in the UK and thought it sounded great. With limited time this was not a tour suitable for us but operator did not say this, just accepted the booking. When we met our guide and he told us it would be a 3 hours journey to Fort Galle and then 3 hours back to ship, leaving one hour for us… not what was suitable for us. The operator should have seen this and suggested another tour, perhaps just of Colombo city. Our guide was called Lal and he was not the most communicative of guides, it appears not to be his fault and he did try but we cut short the tour so only spent 5 hours in the car and 15 minutes at the turtle sanctuary. Worst tour ever had through Viator 😢

It was a horrible experience, they didn’t fulfill their promised schedule. We had a chance to go to the river and it was the most depressing thing I have ever gone to on my life. The tour guide has nothing to say except talking about my country and corona!!! Even when I ask, he doesn’t have the answers.. definitely I wouldn’t recommend it.

I recently took the Southern Sri Lanka Sightseeing Day Trip from Colombo, and it turned out to be one of the most enriching and enjoyable experiences of my visit. The itinerary was wonderfully diverse, blending nature, tradition, and history in a way that felt both relaxed and deeply engaging. The day began with a boat safari—peaceful and scenic, though we didn’t spot any wildlife during the ride itself. But nature had other plans: en route, we saw plenty of animals in the wild, including a large monitor lizard that boldly crossed the freeway right in front of our car! It was such an unexpected and thrilling sight that it more than made up for the quiet riverbanks. The cinnamon extraction demonstration was a highlight. Watching the process up close gave me a new appreciation for the craftsmanship behind something I’d always taken for granted. The mask museum was equally fascinating, offering a glimpse into the vibrant storytelling traditions of the region. At the turtle rehabilitation center, I was moved by the care and dedication shown to these gentle creatures. It was heartening to see conservation in action. Then came Fort Galle—majestic, atmospheric, and full of stories. Walking through its colonial architecture with the sea breeze in the air felt like stepping into another time. The live stilt fishing demonstration was a rare treat. I’d seen photos before, but witnessing it in person was something else entirely—graceful, quiet, and deeply rooted in tradition. Throughout the day, my guide was exceptional. Not only was the air-conditioned car clean and comfortable, but he also surprised me with a selection of local bananas (each with its own flavor and texture!) and a refreshing sour orange drink that locals love. These small gestures made the experience feel personal and authentic. If you're looking for a day trip that goes beyond sightseeing and offers a genuine connection to Sri Lanka’s culture and natural beauty, I wholeheartedly recommend this one.
