Essentially , the thing I wanted to do was see the penguin parade. Ideally I’d have gone on a tour just to see that. For me it was unnecessary to go to the Moonlit Sanctuary( which is a very small and poor example of Australia’s many wildlife sanctuaries and having seen it I’m very grateful that I went to two other ones during my time here). The visit to the beach was only 25 minutes which I thought was a total waste as it’s a lovely beach and I would have liked more time there, I personally didn’t need or want the hour and 15 minutes to eat….and though the Nobbies boardwalk was beautiful and I’m happy I went, I would have far preferred going there earlier snd getting to the penguins earlier!! We only got there at 8:20 or so snd by that time all the front row best seats, were taken! I would have liked to go as soon as they opened…. have a browse through the museum which looked charming and informative ( but I had no time as had to rush to get a seat to watch the penguins!) I thankfully got a somewhat decent seat but four rows back…. I wish I had gone earlier…. brought a packed lunch…. and gotten a front row seat! By 8:45 I was finally able to get a front row seat but I had to leave and race back to the van!! I would have liked to skip the moonlit sanctuary entirely….. and dinner….. started the tour at 1:30….. had a couple of hours at the beach….. walk the Nobbies boardwalk….and then headed to the penguins once it opened!! I also spent 300 dollars on this trip when premium ticket entry is only 85!!! Our guide Alex was very sweet and therefore I gave the tour a 3 instead of a 2!!!

We were picked up at our hotel at 13.20, Tess our tour guide was very prompt on arrival and was lovely. There was only 9 of us so it did feel like we had the personal touch. On our drive Tess introduced everyone and gave us lots of information regarding the trip and Melbourne in general. We first stopped at a Wildlife Sanctuary and Tess walked some of the way with us, giving us information on some of the animals and pointed out the baby kangaroo who was pure white. We then went to a beach for a brief stop before going to Cowes for dinner. We went to see the Little Penguins coming in from the sea with food for their chicks and had great tickets which gave us the perfect view. Tess was absolutely great, really informative and friendly. I’d highly recommend this tour with this company.

The Phillip Island and Moonlit Sanctuary was amazing and a must do! We had Travis as our tour guide and he was SO passionate about his job and had so much knowledge and fun facts about the city, the wildlife and everything in between. Travis absolutely made the tour and it would not have been the same experience without him! The whole day was well organised, but still felt like we had time to see extra bits and adventure off the beaten track.

Wow! I cannot recommend this trip enough! The highlight was of course the penguins but It was so much more than that ( although they were absolutely amazing and I cried!). Travis our guide was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure everyone in the group had a fantastic experience. The animal sanctuary was a lovely extra and Travis took us to some breathtaking view points along the coast too. Excellent value and a most memorable day out that we will never forget. Thank you so much.

Compared to other wildlife tours, we have taken the moon lift sanctuary was about a two on a scale of five. It is a long drive to complete the round trip from Melbourne to Phillips Island. There is a stop for a light dinner in the town Cowers. What really was disappointing is that we had penguin plus tickets which allowed us to get a little closer viewing than other people. Our tour guide said with these special tickets we could not enter until 8 PM. As it turned out, we could have enter at 6:30 because by the time we entered, all the bleachers were filled. Also the penguin plus tickets bleachers only allow about 50% of people to see the penguins come in from the beach otherwise you have to watch them passing by our bleachers. Not sure why the tour was at least a half an hour to an hour late arriving. Sent an email to the company and they did not respond. DISAPPOINTED!!!

We had a good time. We were lost and couldn't find the pick up point and were grateful that Kevin waited a few minutes before leaving. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Bring some binoculars to see the penguins!
