  We went on the Milford Sounds Executive Tour today. The day was spectacular, with views so out of this world they made you quite emotional. Let me start with the only negative: the morning coffee stop. The coffee was terrible, and the venue felt, at best, like a conference breakout room (we’re on holiday — we don’t need reminders of work!) and, at worst, like a travel waiting room. It wasn’t what I would have expected from an executive tour. That’s the negative over with, because everything else was amazing. The trip offered the most spectacular views. The cruise was wonderful, and the tasting menu was sublime. The staff were all very attentive and explained each course with passion and knowledge. But what really made the day fantastic for both me and my husband was our tour guide, Stuart. His knowledge, paired with his lovely Dutch sense of humour, made the experience so much more enjoyable. He broke the ice straight away, making it feel like we were a group of friends on a day out rather than complete strangers. I was especially impressed by his ability to remember everyone’s names and where in the world we were from — and to use those names naturally throughout the day.   Disappointed. The skipper decided we would not be going out to where Milford sound begins at the ocean but rather went slowly and a bit closer to a waterfall and a small bay instead. I thought the cruise was 1 and a half to 2 hours. Think we finished in an hour and a quarter. Last cruise of the day… Milford Sound beautiful but I was really interested to see what it was like coming in from the ocean side. Noticed other boats going out and then come back in. They saw the same stuff and more just not so sloowly.

  Paulie our tour guide and coach captain was fantastic. He drove us safely each way all while giving us amazing commentary on the history, culture, wildlife, and more of New Zealand and the Milford Sound area. The entire trip was beyond organized. And it is such a wonderful experience to see the sights along the way and on the Milford sound boat tour. The drive is LONG, prepare as needed. There were bathroom and snack stops along the way. If time permits, there are also stops to see and take pictures of a few scenic areas (maybe even drink some glacial water - bring an extra cup/water bottle).

  be careful about the carparks when driving as we are from New Zealand and took our car and not the tourist bus. We left ourselves 3 1/4 of an hour to find a carpark and walk down. All of the carparks were full, and we just had nowhere to go at all, and it was windy and teaming down. There were two guys patrolling the carparks that were just for buses to go through which was near where the ferries were and my husband just wanted to drop us off and go and try again for carparks, but was told no and to move on which made us panic as we only had 10minutes till boarding the ferry which we paid a good amount for and there was a few of us. We ended up having to park in what we hope was a carpark and run in the rain to the venue in a panic. It was a bit annoying as we were stressed out to the max on what should have been a beautiful cruise. The cruise was beautiful and that part was amazing with the waterfalls in full bloom as the weather was rainy etc and lovely guide, just not the beginning.

  Even though it was raining we had an awesome experience touring the Milford Sound. The scenery was spectacular and unbelievable.

  We did the day trip to Milford Sound with Deanne as our coach driver. Her passion, knowledge, enthusiasm and love for what she does, made this a fantastic day that I’d recommend to anyone. There were numerous stops on the way there to take photos, as well as having windows/glass on the roof on the bus, all meaning you don’t miss anything. The cruise on Milford was amazing with the boat stopping numerous times for us to take photos under waterfalls, and photos of dolphins and seals, with great commentary along the way. We loved not having to drive ourselves for 8 hours for the day, so taking the bus tour was well worth it. Definitely book this trip…..and make sure you ask for Deanne! 10/10

  What a magical trip this was - we were celebrating a special birthday so was a real treat. We did the overnight cruise and was excellent. The Sound/fiord was stunning - waterfalls, bays, soaring mountains and breathtaking landscapes - and all this after a spectacular drive to the sound from Q Town. (Had an awesome Lamb and Mint pie from Miles Pies in Te Anau highly recommend!) Thought the programme was well paced, enjoyed the afternoon cruise and water activities. Staff made a point of looking after us and on-board nature guide was excellent. Food was very good, drinks well priced, bed comfy, and a good shower. Felt the crew despite us being their third trip of the day worked hard to host us and obviously enjoyed their work and sharing this special place. Saw the Crested penguins - what a bonus! Was long enough, price about right, although the barista coffee could have been part of the fee not an extra charge. never felt crowded - 69 staying on the boat a perfect number.
