Join us on this fully guided, small group day tour from Queenstown to the world-renowned Milford Sound; the crowning jewel of Fiordland.
Highlights of the drive include Lake Wakatipu, Devil’s Staircase, the truly majestic mountains of Fiordland, Mirror Lake, Lake Gunn and Homer Tunnel, with multiple stops along the way for photo opportunities and Kea bird spotting (the world’s largest alpine parrot).
We then travel through the mind-blowing Homer Tunnel, emerging as the valley descends sharply down to Milford Sound, with its hundreds of waterfalls cascading into crystal clear waters.
With Cruise Milford (the No. 1 Cruise in Miflord Sound), you’ll be travelling on a smaller boat, which is less crowded and where the crew offer a much more informative and personal tour of Milford Sound. You’ll be getting close to New Zealand fur seals basking on the rocks, massive rock faces rising for hundreds of metres out of the sea and see waterfalls cascade from ancient rainforest high in the mountains.
At the end of the day your guide will drop you at the Glenorchy Air Base for your return, scenic flight back from Milford to Queenstown for the ultimate birds eye view of this stunning region.

We were supposed to take the bus to Milford Sound and fly back. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and we had to take the bus back. This was unfortunate, but Zoey was our tour guide and she made the trip amazingly fun. She provided us with commentary along the way and stopped at a number of viewpoints. The cruise was good but the weather conditions were not the best. I would highly recommend the trip and hopefully you get Zoey as your guide.

Excellent tour! Highly recommended. Our tour guide and driver, Daniel, was terrific. We particularly loved his playlist curated to suit each part of the trip to Milford Sound. We had plenty of stops to take the obligatory photos and to simply enjoy being in such spectacular places. The mini bus was modern, clean and comfortable. We each got a lunch cooler bag containing a chicken sandwich, small quinoa salad, chocolate cake, apple, orange juice and some mints. Daniel also offered muesli bars, chips and motion sickness tablets for the 2 hour cruise. The cruise didn’t end up being that choppy but it was really windy! Definitely have warm clothes ready. We flew back to Queenstown which was a fabulous experience. The airport is located next to the cruise pier so it was a short transfer by bus immediately after the cruise finished. Then there was a taxi waiting at Queenstown Airport waiting to return you to your original pick up point. Very well organised. Well worth the money spent. Much better than travelling in a large coach.

This was an amazing tour from start to finish! Our guide Joe was fantastic - he was funny and knowledgeable, and he shared so many interesting stories and facts throughout the journey. Every part of the tour was filled with incredible views, and the scenic plane ride back to Queenstown was the perfect way to end the day.

The sight seeing tour and cruise of Milford Sound were incredible. Our tour guide, Jess, was knowledgeable of the route and surrounding area, and made quite a long day of driving seem to go by quite fast with fun stories and historical facts. We had a lovely time and would absolutely recommend.

All was outstanding except for the drop off as I had to get a taxi back to the hotel. But the bus driver was excellent. Shura was a great guide and loved the flight. All outstanding

Such an amazing day! The drive was beautiful and there were plenty of chances to stop and take pictures. Our guide/driver, Jacob was great. The provide lunch was also very good. The boat tour was also a success. Though it was windy, we were able to stay on the top deck and fully enjoy the whole experience. We opted to fly back which gave an unmatched view of the mountains and lakes. 10 out of 10 experience.

1. We watched a few dozen "wonders of New Zealand" videos. They mostly show Milford Sound with hundreds of waterfalls in misty weather. Our day was a very "nice" sunny day. To our disappointment, there were only 2 major waterfalls. All other travelers on the same bus were commenting "amazing", "wonderful". We were looking at each other like "hah?!" Before the 14-day trip to New Zealand, I would say Milford Sound was my #1 most exciting tour. Now, it can only be probably 3. 2. The flight back, to me was breathtakingly scenic. When we flew by the tallest mountain in Fjordlands, I almost touched the snow cap. However, it ascends 10,000 ft in 1 minute, my wife's heart almost gave out. She had severe nausea and could not enjoy it at all. It's not the problem of the tour. But keep this in mind when booking this. 3. The bus ride there went through Mirror Lake, Eglington Valley, Homer Tunnel and Hundred Falls view point. I wish it were a rainy day with real hundred falls. But there was none on that fateful sunny day. Sigh...

Fantastic trip. Unbelievable views of waterfalls and Milford sound. Rainy weather makes the falls stand out. Danny our tour guide was amazing.
