  • Too expensive for excessive queuing

DO NOT BOTHER! Absolutely ridiculous queueing times both at the bottom and the top! Dreadful experience, easily wasted a whole day just queueing!! They are crooks too as they make you wait in line for an hour before you can even buy a ticket, then tell you it's another hour after that! What a joke! It's easily just an hour you need at the Budda and monastery then back in another queue for the trip down? No thank you!! Also how can a cable car system that is one on one off be full?? Lies. It's so expensive for such an awful experience.

Great to see the big Buddha. The issue is getting out of the place. Because they have 3 standards of cable car, up to at least a third if not more of the cable cars return empty. This has a massive impact on the queue for standard cable cars. We were in the queue for over 1.5 hours to return, leaving us late for other events we had arranged. Absolutely shockingly awful!

  • Terrible - wouldn’t bother again 😡

Terrible. Seeing the Buddha was enjoyable but to have to queue 1-1/2 hrs to get back on cable was bad, only because they are trying to make extra money by grading the cars and many cars left empty while hundreds of people had to wait!!!

  • Great for a half-day trip.

The cable car ride up has amazing views and is the best part. The Big Buddha statue is big and impressive to see. The village around it is very touristy with shops and restaurants. It can get very crowded. Go for the views and the photo of the Buddha, but don't expect a quiet cultural experience. Worth seeing once.

The place is fine , it’s a nice trip BUT the queue is endless! Over 2 hours waiting in queue! So be prepared. Apart of that everything else is fine

Just awful experience, would give ut no stars if i could. 2 hours in line before we even made it onto the cable car, views were great but definitely not worth the line up or the cost of the ticket. And then another 45 minutes liningup to come back down. Did not bother with anything at the top, just looked like a typical tourist trap, definitely not worth it. Worst holiday experience ever, total tourist trap and crap way to waste an afternoon.

  • It's not worth it, unfortunately

On November 19, 2025, me and my friend visited The Big Buddha in HK. Guys, I'm afraid it's not worth coming here at all. First of all, we waited about 20-30 minutes before we could buy tickets. I believe that you can also buy tickets online, - of course you save time here. We didn’t know and didn’t read what it looks like here before. (You should definitely do this🙈). After that we had to wait about 40-50 minutes in the queue until we actually got on the cable car. The journey itself takes only about 15-20 min. The village and Buddha are quite newly built, it looks like. Everything is just shops, cafes and souvenirs (even in Buddha itself there are souvenir shops). So our walk may have taken us about 30 minutes to get back to the cable car to queue for 40 minutes again (we are still standing there as I write this post:)). So there is nothing neither historical nor worthwhile in this place. You get much more when you visit a Buddha like that in Thailand. P.S. We had the standard cabin, of course you can also buy Crystal +, then you will have to wait much less. This will save you time. But it costs more, and all the fun is just not worth it.

  • The ride itself is great but.....

The ride itself is good and offers amazing view and is a good experience. However the queue system is horrible. I was there 7 minutes after it opened and had booked crystal car ticket on klook. Sure I was able to skip the already long queue for the ticket counter but still had to queue for a long time to get to the cable car line. Even though the crystal car queue was literally empty all the time. But due to the number of standard car ticket the queue was super slow even for people with e-ticket. There are 4 queues. 1 to buy ticket, 1 to redeem e-ticket, 1 to show offical site tickets. and th last queue is to qeueu for the cable car after you have showed your ticket. The last queue got 3 lines for standard, crystal and crystal +. Turns out I shouldn't have saved 60HKD buying on klook because people buying on official site could also skip the e-ticket line. At least in the morning. Well anyways, there i was stuck in this small queue to scan my e-ticekt for 20 minutes watching the empty crystal car line. But was I and other with crystal car ticket allowed to enter? NO. we had to wait for the standard car line to become smaller. Why arent there a system to allow crystal car ticket holders to enter when that line has no queue? Well after 20 minutes i was up next, i scanned the qr code and went to the crsytal car lane. Yep, completely empty so I could just board the first crystal car that arrived and got the car all by myself. So when I returned a few hour later I saw how bad the queue system really is. First the queue to buy tickets was so long it went all the way down to the road. The estimated queue for buying tickets was 60 minutes according to the sign I saw staff holding up.But staff at the back of the queue seemed to have issues with directing ticket holders to their line with some ticket hodler was stuck int he ticket counter line. I could see them trying to show the staff they had tickets and was later diretcted ot the correct line. Which should be unecessary. This is just bad queue management where there are no proper signs telling people where to go and staff not knowing what to do. The And funny enough the queue for crystal car wasnt that bad. I could literally see the end of it when I left the car and walked to the exit. However people with crystal car ticket was still stuck in the scanning queue to ge in the crystal car line just like I was earlier. So how can the system be so bad? No one is telling people to buy tickets online. No one is telling people that official site tickets have priority over partner sites. Why are crystal car ticket holders not directed to a second queue when the crystal car line is nearly empty? So here I am telling people to buy tickets online before queuing up. Just do it. Even if its literally just before you enter the queue. Preferably on the official site as that seems to be the ultimate fast track. And be there early. 10 AM with ticket from official site on a weekday will msot likely see you on a car within 5 minutes. When I returned it was 12.30 and the queue was very long. I assume ticket holders could skip the worst but not sure how long they had to wait to have their e-ticket scanned but im sure it was way less than the poor souls waiting 60 minutes to buy tickets onsite. My experience was on a tuesday with cloudy and cold weather with some wind and risk of rain. Cant imagine how bad it is on a day with good weather or a weekend. The managment seriously needs to take som queue managment classes and learn to utilize the available capacity better. Sending empty crystal cars up the cable while people wanting to be in those cars are stuck in a queue is just stupid. Not pushing people to get tickets online to reduce the congestion for on site ticket purchase is also stupid. Not having clear signs that tells people where to go is stupid.

  • Dont bother if you value your time!

What a waste of a day,,,,3hrs to get a ride up there!! Looked nice once there but couldnt enjoy because of the dread of the return queue, luckily was only 1.5 hrs long.Lack of staff to inform you of true waiting times.Tourists need to boycott this attraction until the owners sort out the queues(limit numbers) instead of putting profit first. Worst experience ever..
