Our party of 4 were picked up at our hotel by Wing and driven to Lantau Island which is around 30 minutes away. Once there we parked in an underground car park at a shopping centre and transferred to another minibus, this is because of local laws regarding the licence of the local drivers, we were not informed of this and as a result four of us had to cram in to 3 seats in the rear, the journey to the big Buddha is a long one so we were uncomfortable for a long time there and back. The Buddha and monastery are amazing and well worth the journey, we were then taken to the fishing village. The tour stated the boat trip was included but Wing informed us that it would be at extra cost. The weather didn’t lend itself to being out on the sea in a small boat so we didn’t do this part of the tour. We were then taken back to the shopping centre and returned to our hotel one hour early. I’ve read other reviews which state they were taken to the nature reserve near the village and others that went for food at a local restaurant, we weren’t offered any of these options and the we also didn’t get any time in the shopping centre which the tour included, it all seemed very rushed. At £499 the tour worked out very expensive for what we got, we should have simply got a return journey to the Buddha in a taxi. We did enjoy the day and Wing is a lovely chap but I can’t really recommend the tour given the limited experience and cost, I have contacted Wing to ask him to update his listing to ensure that future customers are aware of what will happen on the tour and what they will receive while on it, if we had known about the transfer to another vehicle which wasn’t big enough and the extra charges that were listed as included we probably wouldn’t have booked. If you are thinking of doing this tour contact the operator first to find out exactly what you’re getting for your money.

We had a perfect day with our guide Chan. We were on a cruise and had only one day in Hong Kong but Chan is a super hero guide! He went above and beyond for us and we managed to see all the highlights. He was so entertaining and knowledgeable, we learned so much about the history and places we visited. He's also a talented photographer and took beautiful photos of us. We had such a great time. Thank you!

Visiting the Big Buddha was a mixed experience. The first thing that greeted us wasn’t serenity, but an aggressive sales pitch for overpriced souvenir photos. Then came the open mall setup—lined with commercial outlets, from Starbucks to McDonald's—which felt more like a shopping district than a spiritual retreat. However, once we moved past the shopping area, the sound of birds and the impressive sight of the towering Buddha redeemed the visit. Climbing the stairs wasn’t too challenging, and the statue itself was awe-inspiring. It’s a remarkable sculpture, but the commercialization of the surroundings made it feel disconnected from the essence of Buddhism

Perhaps the most special experience in all of our tours throughout various countries in Asia. Our guide, Wing, was simply spectacular. He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, enthusiastic, thoughtful and he always anticipated all of our needs (provided water, bathroom breaks, etc). Wing went above and beyond all of our expectations! He provided our group with memories for a lifetime. Wing is a special person with a heart of gold.

Please don’t take this tour, it is awful. Viator made it right with us, but avoid this one. Nothing as advertised, no Mercedes, unprofessional and cheesy.

We had a terrific guide Wayne took very good care of us! We saw the Big Buddha & the Po Lin Monastery. We also had a nice visit at a local Temple nearby. Our driver KK was awesome and always ready with the car when we were done at each stop. The visit at Tai O wasn’t much , but we understood the importance of supporting that community. It was a great day with lots of information & picture taking! Thank you Wayne & KK!!

We really enjoyed our private tour of Lantau Island. We used two different MB cars. One from Kowloon to Lantau Island and then transferred to another MB that had all of the window stickers to park very close to the Big Buddha. The owner was our guide and was very informative and helpful. He pointed out the best spots for photographs. He took us to a really good seafood restaurant and helped us order some delicious dishes.

We had a wonderful day, our tour guide was knowledgeable and explained the history and customs of Hong Kong. We had a great time seeing Lantau Island, Tian Tan Buddha, the Po Lin Monastery and Tai O Fishing Village. The experience was unforgettable and we never would have been able to experience these amazing sights on our own. Very highly recommended!,
