Ballooning near Geelong, Victoria’s second - largest city, offers a spectacular mix of coastal and rural scenery. From the air, passengers enjoy views of rolling green hills, farmland, the winding Barwon River, and the sweeping coastline of Port Phillip Bay. On clear mornings, sights may extend to the You Yangs and out toward the ocean.
Flights launch from various locations depending on wind conditions, including Geelong itself, Murgheboluc, Bannockburn, and across the Bellarine Peninsula. Each launch site provides a unique and memorable perspective of the region.
Balloon flights operate year - round, weather permitting, with peak availability from November to March. It is an exceptional way to experience one of Victoria’s most diverse landscapes.
Geelong is just over an hour’s drive from Melbourne, making it ideal for a day trip or a relaxing overnight stay in the Geelong and Bellarine region.

5.00The balloon ride was excellent. We were initially to fly in the city of Melbourne, but plans changed and we drove out to Geelong and did the ride out there. Once we started climbing we went through the clouds, ended above the clouds and watched a beautiful sunrise. I’ve always wanted to do a hot air balloon ride. I had to come all the way to Australia to do it!! It was worth every minute. Flew over the water, the countryside, saw animals, sheep, and kangaroos. Even helping to pack up the balloon was fun!! A once in a lifetime experience. I’ll be back.

5.00I have often watched and photographed the Liberty balloons from the ground and I finally plucked up the courage to fly in one this morning. It was a fantastic experience where I was able to fly over my hometown of Geelong, taking photographs of familiar places, including my own street, the waterfront and the footy stadium! Pilot Dan and the team were wonderful and kept us all laughing and comfortable throughout the flight. Our paddock landing was so smooth and we even had a welcoming committee of three kangaroos to top it off! I highly recommend this experience, even if like me, you think you may chicken out. So glad I didn’t! Thanks so much Liberty Balloon Flights.

5.00Absolutely unforgettable! Floating above Corio Bay and the surrounds of Geelong on the very first flight of the new balloon was pure magic. The views were exquisite in every direction—soft morning light, sweeping coastline, and that incredible sense of calm you only get when you’re drifting silently through the sky. Pilot Dan was phenomenal: skilled, relaxed, and clearly passionate, which made the whole experience feel effortless and safe. Huge shout-out as well to Rob and Thor, the brilliant crew who kept everything running smoothly and added to the fun from start to finish. The entire flight was peaceful, awe-inspiring, and genuinely special. This is the definition of a “basket” list experience—one that everyone should tick off at least once. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
