My partner and I had an unforgettable day wine tasting with Joe, who was an exceptional host from start to finish. He took us to two beautiful wineries, but what truly set the experience apart was Joe’s deep knowledge of the area and his sharing of Māori culture and history, which added so much meaning to the day. Joe is warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the experience feel personal rather than just another wine tour. This was one of the highlights of our trip. We had searched throughout the South Island for an experience that genuinely incorporated Māori culture and history and struggled to find one, so we were absolutely thrilled to discover this tour. We cannot recommend Joe and this experience highly enough. Thanks again Joe!

Joe was a wonderful guide with plenty of great insights into the Māori culture and the land around Wanaka and Dunedin! We especially enjoyed the personalised wine tasting at Nanny Goat beside the vineyard.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on the Express Wine Tour & Māori Culture in Wanaka! From start to finish it was a highlight of our trip. Our guide, Joe, was amazing, so friendly, warm and knowledgeable. He welcomed us with a traditional Māori greeting and wove fascinating insights about Māori culture, history and connection to the land throughout the tour, which made the experience feel that much richer and more meaningful The wine tastings were excellent, with Joe introducing us to some fantastic boutique wineries we probably wouldn’t have discovered on our own. His passion, stories and local recommendations truly elevated the day. We left with new appreciation for both the culture and the incredible wines of the region. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you want something that blends beautiful wine with authentic local culture

A wonderful experience! Joe is a terrific guide! He is knowledgeable, interesting, and charismatic. His knowledge of Mauri culture added greatly to our experience and the wineries were really interesting.

Joe is a competent guide. He told us a lot about Maori culture and his statements and explanations are authentic. We visited two wineries. The second (Rippon) was excellent from the location over the lake and the beautiful showroom. Thanks Joe for the very nice hours.

Joe was brilliant. Gave us a traditional Māori welcome and introduced us to some great insights of his culture. Ian from Aitkens winery was fun, informative, passionate about his wines and we loved it. Rippon was a magnificent property and our host was lovely. A perfect day thanks to Joe

It was an absolute honour to spend a few hours with Joe from Wanahaka. We came for the wine tour but experienced so much more. He welcomed us with a traditional Māori greeting, taught us about language, local history and culture while seamlessly integrating visits to two vineyards where we sampled superb quality wines, before delivering us safely back to our accommodation. We listened, we learned, we laughed and we left with a very different perspective on those who came before us and the land they care for. This tour is authentic. Thank you Joe, we will be back for the full day Wanahaka wine tour next time!
