There are only a handful of tour guides that are native to the area. I am one of them. My family has been in the Carolinas since 1735 and came to the Charleston area in 1786 to preach abolition of slavery. This city is my home and I love to welcome people into it. I love the history, culture and people, both alive and long gone, that make up an American story, the story of Charleston. I am part of the community and walking the streets with me is like being on a walk around the neighbourhood. I know the history like the back of my hand and thankfully, over the years, have gotten to know the residents that live in the areas we walk through. Join me. I am not part of some big tour company. I am a sole proprietor. When you book with Peninsula Walking, you get me.
Join me to see famous landmarks, like Rainbow Row, the Battery, Ft. Sumter, stately mansions and beautiful gardens.

I take lots of walking tours and this was the best. Evans was so knowledgeable and compassionate about Charleston. He made history come alive. I will look forward to doing this same tour again with him and any other he offers. Thank you for an amazing afternoon.

Al led our tour and we loved it--a mix of big history and small details. It felt like a nice walk downtown chatting with a very friendly, knowledgeable local. I'd recommend to anyone and will take another of his tours next time I'm in Charleston.

Our tour guide, Evans, was funny, knowledgeable and full of information both popular and unsung about Charleston that made the tour so enjoyable. His horticultural expertise added to the experience. We highly recommend this tour.
