What To Expect

Yangon (Rangoon)

This morning, you are picked up by our Company’s Tour Guide at your hotel and a half-day Yangon Sightseeing Tour highlights: down town Yangon to see Sule Pagoda, City Hall, Mahabandoola Park - Independent monument and old Colonial buildings like Telegraph Office, High Court Building, Myanma Port Authority building, Accountant General's Office, Custom House and etc.. Visit Botahtaung Pagoda: the famous landmark on the side of Yangon River, with a huge internal cavity and the Relic Chamber. Then drive to Yangon Port (Pansodan Jetty) to enjoy a ferry boat ride across Yangon River to have a closer look of commuters and ways of life. Meet people during the boat ride .Upon arrival back to Pansodan Jetty, proceed to Chauk-htet-kyi Pagoda; to see life like Reclining Buddha Image in guest-receiving position with Buddhist Monasteries around the Temple. Lunch at Danu Phyu Daw Saw Yi Restaurant where serves delicious Myanmar cuisine. After lunch, visit to Kandawgyi Lake and Karaweik Palace: a replica of the royal barge which is richly decorated with Myanmar traditional arts & architecture. In the evening, visit to the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda; one of the wonders in the world and noted for its religious significance and artistic beauty. Enjoy the sun-set from the Great Temple. Offer the Planetary Post which belongs to your Birthday with water, flowers, candle lights, and incense sticks. Return to your Hotel in Yangon and end of the Tour.

Let's start with the elephant in the room : it was expensive (particularly as I was a solo traveller). However the tour guide was knowledgeable and tailored the tour to what I'd asked for. A luxury car & chauffeur provided our transport saving a lot of time, and a lot was packed into the tour. I had only 1 whole day in Yangon. I probably saw 2 or 3 times the number of sites that I would have seen had I been on my own. Also the explanations of the sites and the culture meant I learnt far more about the people of Myanmar than I would on my own. This was not the usual tour guide rattling off preprepared speeches on different sites, but an interactive experience - as a solo traveller I was able to ask about different aspects of Myanmar culture and received knowledgeable answers plus extra information around what I had asked. I don't normally pay anything like the £150 this tour cost me, but taking into consideration the overall cost of that part of the holiday and how much more I had seen and understood it was good value

A 10 on everything!! We had a Great "Sandar" Guide, a charm! From the first minute, it made us feel so comfortable and well. We enjoy the whole circuit so much. Although we had to change a small part of the circuit due to bad weather, we were not frustrated at any time. Everything we asked for, he got us. A ceremony at a monastery with a Monk to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. It was all fantastic!! I recommend anyone who wants to go to Myanmar (which is very worthwhile) do it with: Adventuremyanmar. They are an agency that deserves all the trust. Well, you feel tucked in from the minute you get off the plane to the day you get back on to leave this authentic country. If you are lucky enough to be with Sandar, it will be a great luxury and will not leave you indifferent as the same country. Congratulations on the great work you are doing.
