Mt. Bromo & Mt. Ijen are 2 worthy highlights of East Java. Visit 2 spectacular active volcanoes in 3 days. You will have to wake up early each morning to get the best of both sites. You will get rewarded tough with a grey-greyish unbelievable moonlike landscape at mount Bromo and the most acidic green blueish lake in the world at Ijen... The sulphur miners at the crater lake, will be working from early morning till about noon.
After the tour you will be dropped in Ketapang/Banyuwangi. Or, you can return to Surabaya.
You will spend the night in Cemara Lawang in Cafe Lava hotel (or similar) and in Bondowoso in Ijen View Hotel.
All included except personal expenses, all lunches and dinners, horse riding at mount Bromo, optional tours.
If you book the tour for 4 or more travelers, an English speaking guide is added to the tour.

What To Expect
Surabaya - Explore Cemara Lawang village
Accommodations
You will spend the night in Lava View in Cemara Lawang village (if available upon booking)
After you checked in at your hotel, your driver is ready to take you around Cemara Lawang Village. The village is located close to the Entrance of Bromo. Explore the Hindu Tengger area and culture; visit the local market, drink a cup of coffee in a local house, walk the fields, etc.
Madakaripura Waterfall
You will make a stop at Madakaripura waterfall before we go to your hotel in Bromo. From the parking area, you need to take motorbike with the driver to the entrance gate. You will go with local guide ( obligatory ) to explore the waterfall. Enjoy the breathtaking beauty and serene atmosphere.
It's one of the good Spot to see the sunset. You will see the amazing View of Bromo crater and Sand sea from here.

You will spend the night in Ijen View in Bondowoso city - the hotel has a swimming pool.

You will start at 3:30 AM from the hotel and the Jeep will drive you around 45 minute to Kingkong View Point ( 2.600 Masl ) to see the sunrise. Make sure you wear jacket and long pants because it will be cold. Meanwhile waiting the sunrise to come, you can have some hot drink to warm up your body.
Sand Sea
When the sun has risen, your Jeep-driver is ready. You will drive down into the black volcanic Sea of Sand. If you wish to walk in this magnificent landscape, just ask the driver to stop. Otherwise he will bring you to the parking area from where your hike to mount Bromo starts.
Luhur Poten Temple
Your Jeep will park near the Luhur Poten temple. This temple is still actively in use by the local Hindu community. Most often it is closed, but when it is open ask to take a look inside.
Mount Bromo
Then it is a 45 minutes walk to the top of mount Bromo. Take your time in this inspiring grey-greyish landscape. Bromo is an active volcano - not the highest peak - in the middle of Sand Sea, a protected nature reserve since 1919. Depending on the activity of volcano Bromo, the Indonesian Center of Volcanology issues warnings.
Once back at your Jeep, you will return to your hotel. You can have breakfast and a refreshing shower before checking out and heading to Bondowoso city.
The drive to Bondowoso takes about 5 to 6 hours. To stretch your legs Bukit Bintang Arak Arak is a good spot to stop. Small local restaurants offer you some tea, coffee and local food.

Ijen Crater Indonesia
The dazzling blue fire phenomenon can only be seen at night. Therefore you will depart midnight. The drive to Paltuding from where your hike to the crater lake starts takes about 2 hours. Ijen crater lake is one the biggest blue fire areas in the world. Don't mistake blue fire for lava, as blue fire is a chemical reaction between gasses released by the volcano and the air. Once in Paltuding your local guide is waiting for you with gas masks. Climbing down into the crater of active volcano Ijen with the most acidic lake in the world is dangerous. Keep in mind that this part of the tour is only for those in physical good condition. Also, this part of the tour will be at your own risk. Then you will walk back to the caldera to see the sunrise and crater lake.Feel inspired by the green-blueish lake bordered by the brownish crater walls. Explore. Walk your day. Take your time.
Jagir Waterfall
Jagir waterfall lies on the route to Ketapang harbour. If you have time and energy you can visit this gem.
Ketapang Ferry
You will be dropped off in Ketapang harbour. Here you can take the ferry to Bali. Returning to Surabaya is also possible for an additional fee of USD 25.

5.00We did the East Java tour for 3 days and we loved it. Our driver Didik was super friendly and helpful. He was always on time to pick us up from our hotel. During the long drives we had the opportunity to chat and talk about the daily life in indonesia. We visited the Tumpak Sewu waterfall with a local guide, as well as mount Bromo and mount Ijen with local guides. We loved the fact that we were accompanied by local guides who were the sweetest people. We started the tour in Surabaya and also finished the trip there. If you want to see the Tempak Sewu waterfall we would recommend to start the trip in Malang because the drive is shorter. It was a suggestion Didik gave us so we would definitely want to share to other tourists. You can definitely start the whole tour in Surabaya but then choose to visit other waterfalls. Definitely recommend booking this tour. 100% worth it. 5 ⭐️’s!!!

5.00must visit if you are coming to east java, car is big and comfortable for the long rides to accommodations and from bromo to ijen. home stays and hostel before and between the trip was also very pleasant, outdoor fireplace, hot water for shower and nice comfy beds to rest for the long night. highly recommended!
Overall recommended if you want a quick itinerary to cover both mountains!

5.00Traveling with an experienced tour guide made the trip fuss free without us having to worry about the itinerary. Very impressed with the homestay that was provided, it was clean, came with comfortable beds and hot water. The homestay was in a remote area where you can see stars in the night stay. We got to see great views of Mount Bromo at sunrise, truly unforgettable! Do note that travel timings between destinations are long (you could be in the car for 6 hours), we were provided with a comfortable car but do prep for that with a neck pillow to be more comfortable.

5.00Let her experiment! Everything went very well, we had a guide during the 3 days, who is more than a driver. Mull. 3 days, 2 nights, excursion of the bromo mountain with magnificent sunrise and on the road stop at a very beautiful waterfall. Then on the last day, Mount kawa Ijen with ascent + descent into the crater to see the blue fire and mines in action. More than a big thank you to Mull who was attentive, available, full of good advice and information about Javanese life.. A great meeting and memories and cliches that will leave with us in the suitcases! To do with your eyes closed

5.00My trip was from Mulyono, where Pal Mul was our driver. Pak Mul was incredible with how accommodating he was, where he would offer to stop otw to locations if needed. He would also help assist checkins between hotels to quicken the process for my friends and I, which allowed us to rest quickly after long drives. When we set out in the mornings, he would also keep breakfast for us from the hotel for us to eat in the car. Overall a absolutely great experience with Pak Mul, where we saw great sights and had enjoable talks with him during long drives.
