This Mixed-Group tour brings you to the ethnic neighbourhoods of Chinatown, Little India & Kampong Gelam. You will learn about the history, people, culture & heritage, which are what make Singapore uniquely diverse.
You will experience the everyday lives of the locals not only through sight and sound, but also through your taste buds. We will visit 2 UNESCO inscribed hawker centres (at Chinatown & Little India) and sample authentic local cuisines and drink, some of which have been passed down from generations and are fast diminishing due to the lack of family successors continuing with the trade.
To experience the local experience even further, we will also be taking public transportation between the different ethnic quarters, which are efficient, convenient and comfortable.
This tour will help you understand how the locals live their lives, which reflects Singapore's unique multi-racial and cultural lifestyle, and at the same time fill your stomachs with really amazing food and drink.

What To Expect
Chinatown
Your tour is a fun and educational discovery of 3 ethnic neighbourhoods: Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. You will learn more about its history and experience local living, through walking in the area as well as sampling local street food at UNESCO inscribed hawker centres at Chinatown and Little India, and dessert in the Malay Quarter of Kampong Glam. In Chinatown, you will learn more about the lives of early Chinese immigrants who flocked here in large numbers due to the vibrant community and work opportunities. Businessmen, traders, craftsmen, hawkers and peddlers sought to make a living here. While some found success, many others found themselves succumbed to vices like opium, gambling and prostitution. Remnants of these memories can still be found along the streets of Chinatown and you will get the opportunity to relive the lives of the past in the present day.
Kampong Gelam
Your tour is a fun and educational discovery of 3 ethnic neighbourhoods: Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam with a street food experience at UNESCO inscribed hawker centres at Chinatown and Little India. In Kampong Glam, you will learn more about how this place came about and that Malay royalty used to govern Singapore, whose palace used to stand in the grounds. Be enthralled by the grand Sultan Mosque that still continues to attract Muslims from all over the island. It is an important focal point for religious, cultural and social activities. During the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, this area transforms into a popular night market with numerous food stalls as Muslims gather to await the prayer call to break their fast at sunset. You will get to sample locally known desserts by an independently run store in the area while soaking in the old and colourful wall murals that adorn all along the walls of shophouses.

5.00This Singapore food tour was absolutely fantastic— so much food we honestly lost count, and every bite was delicious. Portions were generous, and the stops were thoughtfully chosen with a great mix of local favorites. Our guide Gerry was excellent—knowledgeable, friendly, and full of great stories. The tour also included a walking portion covering Singapore’s history and culture, so between bites we learned a lot about the city and its neighborhoods. Equal parts food tour, cultural tour, and walking tour— with plenty of laughs along the way. Highly recommend on TripAdvisor. Come hungry… very hungry! 😄🍜

5.00Gerry is a legend! He was well known by all the stall owners, and highly knowledgeable about the best food options. As a guide he has a strong family history in Singapore, and a really deep knowledge of the society and culture. We came away with full tummies, great food recommendations and a greater understanding of Singaporean and its people. The tour was really well organised, timely and considerate of shade/water :)

5.00We only had 2 days in Singapore; today we did a 5hr Foodie and Cultural tour with Gerry which was an excellent complement to yesterday’s 8hr driving tour. Gerry did an outstanding job sharing Singapore’s history, culture, and especially its culinary delights. He did a very good job maintaining a balance of eating, walking and getting us around Singapore. We had the perfect group size, and we all enjoyed Gerry’s knowledge and company. I would give him more than 5 stars if that was an option.

5.00We did this tour in 2022 and it was so fun that we did it again this year with our adult son. Gerry, who remembered us from the first tour, is so easy-going and a wealth of information about Singapore culture, food and lifestyle. This is more than a food tour. He took us to parts of Singapore that we wouldn’t have seen on our own. We traveled by van, MRT and city bus to visit the three neighborhoods. Don’t eat breakfast because you will sample a lot of food! We visited a hawker center in Chinatown that was very authentic and sampled so many dishes that we couldn’t finish them all! The Indian restaurant was also very delicious. I think we were the only tourists inside. We definitely enjoyed touring the various neighborhoods and tasting a variety of dishes from a local’s perspective. Would highly recommend.

5.00Was recommended this tour by some Irish friends. We were collected from our hotel in the morning n were very well looked after for the day by Gerry. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Singapore . The different modes of transport, the street food experiences were just fantastic and of course Gerry s easy going, welcoming personality could not be out done. Well done Gerry n I will definitely recommend this tour.
