The Shepherd of the Hills
During the 1800's, the Ozark hills were wild and untamed. Crime was rampant and law enforcement had a difficult time. Eventually, a group formed to help law-abiding citizens. Soon enough, this group became so powerful they were bending the laws for their own gain and they became worse than the criminals they originally formed to fight against. This two-hour long production features a shoot-out, the actual burning of a log cabin, a mystery, a love story, and a moral message that is as true today as it was a century ago. You will be introduced to fascinating characters as they arrive on wagons or horseback including the pillar of the community, Old Matt as well his son, Young Matt. Other characters include beautiful Sammy Lane, villain Wash Gibbs, the mysterious Shepherd, and the vigilante Baldknobber gang.

This outdoor drama is an amazing trip back to the late 1800's to get a glimpse of life in the Ozarks post-Civil War. The story of love and redemption never gets old. If you come to Branson for vacation, this is a must-see production!

The show was very entertaining and the actors and animals did a spectacular job portraying the characters and making the whole story real. I hope to come back soon.

Excellent story with lots of action and drama. My family loved it, just good clean fun in an outdoor theater. Almost like you were back in time when it happened.

Loved the story, the music with the dinner was good as well, but the dinner was just fair, not impressed. The starting point watching guys play horseshoes was lame. Get rid of that part.

Amazing performance. Realistic setting and costumes. Loved the use of animals. The young boy who played pete was fantastic for it being his first time..

Good show on a beautiful evening in the Ozarks. The show is very well done. Some of the acting is better than others but overall it is good with a good story. We paid a little extra for the front rows. We sat in the 2nd row and it was close to the “stage”. It has been years since last seeing this show. Enjoyed the show. One piece of information, there is no one out front organizing the shuttle service or offering assistance. It was a bit confusing to figure out where the shuttle line was forming. And that short walk back up the steps to the car (if you want to skip the shuttle) was not an easy climb. Many stairs. Overall, it is worth the trip.

The Wild West Show was full of entertainment! From a stagecoach, gunfire, The Pony Express/history, poetry, trick riding, trick roping, comedy throughout the show and honoring our veterans. We were entertained and laughing the entire time. My husband and I, and another couple ended up in the show as well. Perfect for couples, groups and families!

Back in the day I’m sure this was a great experience. If you like plays, then you should do it otherwise, it was just a bit odd.
