A great way to see the local villages and tribes. And with a guide you pick up so much more information. It was very muddy! The others on the tour had been advised to wear wellies, for whatever reason we had picked that up, so we’re just in trail shoes. Wellies were probably a good idea. We were met off the minibus by a group of local tribeswomen, who accompanied us for the first half hour. It took a while to click that they were only befriending us so we would buy their goods. I didn’t mind as it added to the experience, but I thought the guide could have warned us beforehand. It was very foggy and the guide kept telling us about the spectacular paddy fields that we couldn’t see, fortunately as we descended the visibility improved and the rice terraces don by the river were indeed spectacular.
