Our ethos is ‘like-a-local’. This is a culturally immersive walking tour, meaning that you will travel around Tokyo on foot and using the excellent public transport system….like a local! Throughout the tour you will learn about Japan’s culture, customs, history and local way of life. Feeling hungry? We’ll get you eating like a local too! Your tour is flexible and will be paced to your speed and requirements. Specialist topics of interests can all be covered; architecture, religion, politics, street art, general history, WW2 history, food, instagramable highlights, pop/movie/anime culture.
Ideal for people with limited time, or those who want a comprehensive overview of Tokyo prior to exploring further on their own. Simply indicate your interests and enjoy an itinerary specific to you.

If you cancel more than one week (more than 168 hours) in advance we will give you a full refund (excluding the booking service fee). If you cancel between 7 days and 2 days (between 167 and 48 hours before) we will give you a 50% refund (excluding any service charge). If you cancel less than 48 hours there is no refund.

The frantic fashion first centre of modern Japan. Join the crowds and make your way across the Shibuya Crossing; the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world! Meet the bronze statue of Hachikō the ‘faithful dog’. Check out the trendy stores of Centre-Gai. Your exact itinerary will be designed according to your interests. Situated right next to the Meiji Shrine, this is the youth fashion center of Japan. Explore the trendy backstreets of Harajuku. Packed full of street art, wacky youth fashion, animal cafes and instagramable food; it is the epitome of quirky Japan. Stroll the streets of Aoyama and Omotesando; Tokyo’s executive class area where art, architecture and high fashion meet. Your exact itinerary will be designed according to your interests. 5.00We had the BEST experience with Milo. She was extremely communicative before the tour, flexible, and timely. And was such a great guide, especially with our children. As a former teacher who has lived in several countries, she has a nice way with people and explains things very well. She answered all of our questions and even taught us how to ride the subway. She takes excellent photos also. Highly recommend and we have been on many tours this trip - she was the best.

5.00I had a fantastic full day walking tour with Yasu. He is a wonderful guide and knows a lot about Tokyo, Japanese customs, and history. Yasu’s English is honestly better than many native English speakers so there was never any concern with understanding him. I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a walking tour in Tokyo.

5.00Iain subbed in for the person who was originally going to be my guide, and I have to think it was lucky for me that he was able to jump in at the last moment and put together a perfect itinerary to introduce me to Tokyo. His knowledge of the history of the city and the various sites we covered was impressive and exactly what I wanted to hear about. In addition, he's just a really good guy who I enjoyed getting to know.

5.00Miko was wonderful! Very informative and friendly! We learned so much about Japanese history while having a fun afternoon. She also chose an authentic Japanese spot for lunch that was delicious. She helped us navigate public transit which was very helpful for the rest of our trip. I’d highly recommend Hello Tokyo and Miko.

5.00We had a wonderful time with Keiko on our Tokyo Tour. As we had limited time in Japan, so we opted for a private tour and did not regret it! Keiko was early when meeting us and was extremely prepared throughout our tour. We saved so much time not navigating around, and Keiko created a great tour itinerary with our requests, and we had some time to spare at the end as well. We visited Gotokuji temple as well as Meiji Shrine and Setagaya Hachimangu Shrine. We had time to stop for lunch along the way as well as to a few gift shops. We are non-fish eating vegetarians, which can be difficult in Japan, and Keiko was prepared with several options for lunch. We really appreciated being taught all of the proper customs and how to be a respectful tourist to these temples and shrines. We could not have been happier with our tour and had an absolutely lovely time on our tour.

5.00Miko was the kindest tour guide ever. She was so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Tokyo and showed us amazing places to eat and get snacks. By the end of the tour, it felt like she was part of the family and I wish we could’ve spent our whole trip with her!
