What To Expect

Let us take you on an amazing, guided off-roading adventure! Ride through a beautiful rainforest, splash through rivers, explore an ancient glacier riverbed while being blown away by the breath-taking scenery including the spectacular Southern Alps and Franz Josef Glacier. Your guide will kit you out with wet weather gear and gumboots and teach you how to ride our off-roading vehicles. They will entertain you and amaze you with beautiful local Maori Legends and history while refining your skills and giving you new challenges to conquer. Either take a single quad bike all to yourself or take a double quad bike and bring a passenger along for the ride or take one of our three-seater buggies that can fit two adults and one child. - If you are booking a double quad its one driver and one passenger - passengers are not permitted to drive so you can not swap at any point on the tour. - Drivers must be a minimum of 16 years of age. - Drivers with minors as passengers must be a minimum of 18 years of age. - Passengers on the quad bikes must be a minimum height of 145cm - Passengers in the buggy's must be a minimum height of 110cm

A fantastic, fun adventure. Our helicopter trip was cancelled due to bad weather so we took this tour at short notice. It was lots of fun and our tour guide Benjie was fantastic. Very safety conscious but also made sure we had lots of fun. A really great experience.

This Quad Biking experience is an absolutely must thing to do. We were led by Will who was so informative about the area. It had been raining heavily so the river was wild but he navigated a way for us, so that we could experience crossing it. We were doubtful that the day would be good because of the rain, but it only made things better, and the views up there were amazing. Many thanks from Terry and Kay from the UK.

We're so glad we did this tour. It exceeded our expectations. The ride though the rainforest and in the riverbed was fantastic. The scenery was magnificent and could not ask for more. Our tour leader Justin was great, informative and enjoyable.

If you want a fun but professionally run quad biking experience this is it! Following a sensible tutorial and familiarisarion session we headed for the forest tracks and river bed making full use of the wet weather gear provided. Many thanks to Brooklyn who was an excellent host and leader.

This was a top 3 experience for me in the many things I did in NZ. I had an absolute blast! The group was so fun, the staff was incredible, highly recommend to anybody heading to Franz Josef, especially a solo traveler. I'd do it again right now if I could! Thank you Wilderness Tours!

It was a really fun experience and Benji our guide was excellent, making it fun but always mindful of everyone's safety. Speaking as an older woman riding on my own bike, I found I needed quite a bit of arm strength as the bike is powerful. Just something to think about if you're not sure whether to ride a single or double.

Absolutely incredible experience, will never quad like that again anywhere in the World, can not recommend highly enough, Will was our guide, we are a family of 4, our two kids (18 & 10) were on one quad whilst we (husband and I) were on another, he treated the kids like adults, pushed us all the really let go and enjoy it whilst feeling safe in his capable hands. Great knowledge and passion for the local area. Will is a great asset to the team! Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience.

We had the best time on our quad bike tour. It was kind of a last-minute decision to book the tour and I'm so glad we did. I've personally never driven a quad bike, and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I don't know that I ever stopped smiling. Our guide and all of the other guides made it super fun too.

Gear provided, great instructions on how to drive and also a mini test drive before the fun. We had Brooklyn as our guide who was amazing, had so much fun with our kids. Would do it again and consider it a must do activity for parents with kids. Great views and ended up with spectacular photos that the guide took and emailed to us.
