What a day! Hiro was a terrific guide. He spoke English well, so he could explain a lot of what we were seeing, as well as answer our questions about Japanese culture. He took us to all the places on the itinerary, plus some bonus locations. The best part was that he paced it according to our needs and interests. We saw so much more than any single shore excursion from our ship, and we paid less! I highly recommend this private half-day tour.

I really enjoyed the tour—it was one of the best ways to get a feel for Nagasaki in a short time. We visited key places like the Peace Park and Atomic Bomb Museum, but also some beautiful spots and neighborhoods I probably wouldn’t have found on my own. A big part of what made the tour so good was the guide, Ningyu Zhang. She was friendly, easy to talk to, and clearly knew a lot. The way she explained things never felt like a lecture—it was more like walking around with someone who really understands the city and enjoys sharing it. I definitely recommend this tour!

Very disappointing tour. Jack was a nice lad but lacked experience. He needs to shadow another guide for a while yet. Not his fault , his boss’s. The weather was v poor but another travelling companion went with the same company & still had a good tour.

Mohamed gave us a fabulous tour of the highlights of Nagasaki. He met us at the cruise terminal and took us around. We let him know our interests and he took us to what we needed to see.

We had for our tour guide Karen and she was knowledgeable and knew what we were seeing at all of our stop. We spent a lot of time at the Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace park. She was great telling us the history and how Nagasaki came back. She told us about the city and then took us to a great lunch. 5 Stars to her and Nagasaki Highlights. LWB

I booked a tour with Private Tours Nagasaki at the last minute, because our cruise itinerary had been changed due to bad weather. Sincerely, I did not expect much - just to learn a few basic facts about the city that I was visiting for the first time. The very beginning was promising: I got confirmation and all instructions about the meeting point from the owner immediately after the booking. Another contact from our guide, an hour before the tour. Very professional and most helpful. Short introduction, and the tour started… We visited all the spots listed. Vika took care of the entrance tickets and everything else. Polite, charming, knowledgeable... Always willing to help, ready to answer any questions (and we had a lot to ask!) This way I’d like to thank Vika and Hiro for the most enjoyable half-day tour and I recommend them to all fellow travelers in search of a pleasant way of finding out the highlights of Nagasaki.

We learnt so much more on this trip about Japan in general and Nagasaki in particular than we would have done on a ship’s tour. Our English speaking guide Joe and driver Hiro took us to the main tourist sites around the city (atomic bomb museum, shrine to the 26 martyrs, spectacles bridge, Glover garden) but along the we learnt about culture, habits and living conditions for the City residents. We valued this detail and made the trip memorable for us. So if you want to escape the crush of the tourist bus, or the minimal attention of a guide trying to answer questions from a coachload, I would recommend this trip.

This was an excellent tour in Nagasaki. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and the itinerary was perfectly planned. Visiting the Nagasaki Peace Park was a very moving experience, and I learned so much about the history. We also enjoyed exploring Dejima and walking through Nagasaki Chinatown, which was lively and full of great local food. Highly recommended!
