At Mt Rushmore we spend 2 hours touring the famous attractions, movie, museum and gift shop.
We arrive at Crazy Horse and explore the huge museum with 14,000 pieces of Native American art. There is a wonderful 20 movie about the history of the carving . . . and the famous family who made this all come to life. You will have time to explore the museum and spend time in the gift shop.
Also included is a drive along Iron Mtn Road with a stop at Norbeck Overlook and several one way tunnels.
On our return to Deadwood, we tour the 'bad boy' town of Hill City. Once a town of noted violence and debauchery . . . it is now our most 'artsy' location with local artists, a famous dinosaur museum and local wineries.

Mount Rushmore Profile View
On this tour we first stop at one of the lessor known views of Mt Rushmore . . . to the west of the main entrances is a small parking lot for a unique photo of George Washingtons Profile. This was never intened to be at attraction but has become one of his famous pictures.

3.00I was a little torn about writing this review but I feel it must be done. I booked this tour mainly so that we would not have to drive out to Mount Rushmore and back after dark with the tunnel drive as an added bonus. The ride out to Mount Rushmore was very nice . The bus was very comfortable, and the driver shared some things along the way. It was awesome being dropped off right at the front entrance and we were given information on the monument and offered a short tour by the driver. As we had been out earlier in the day, we did not take advantage of that. The ceremony was beautiful and having the bus at the exit was perfect. That is where the five star portion of the trip ended. Sadly, the bus broke down as we were driving out of the monument area. The driver contacted the company and another bus was sent out. by the time it arrived, it was quite late, with no time to do the second portion of the trip. I understand that those were circumstances out of anyone’s control. However, I feel that some follow up from the owner with a formal apology and the offer of a partial refund was in order. With the excellent contact I had with Rich leading up to the tour, I truly expected that we would hear from him following this unfortunate turn of events. Because we were not able to do the second part of the trip, I cannot review that. I can say that the ride out was nice and comfortable and I likely would book again if we return to the area.

2.00Our guide never introduced himself to us. Sure wasn’t very friendly! We sat on the bus for 25 minutes waiting for a twosome before he decided to call them, only to learn they weren’t coming. Not sure why he waited so long to determine this. The stops were pretty boring and we were also never offered bottled water that the description said was included. Our unnamed driver then insisted on sitting for a half hour in a lot until it got dark so we could try to see stars even though it was clear to all the passengers that it was too cloudy of an evening for any stars! Guess he didn’t want to get us back a few minutes early. This trip was definitely not worth the $$.

5.00The lighting of the president's was very moving. Shane was very informative on our tour. It was unfortunate that we had a full moon so we couldn't star gaze. But other than that we all enjoyed our tour.
