Rough and disappointing night all around. First, they mentioned that the closer site to the north might be a bit choppy and asked if everyone was OK with going to the south site next to the Outrigger Hotel where the manta rays are “pretty close to guaranteed.” In fact, the boat captain mentioned that in over 5 years visiting this site for an evening dive, she had NEVER not seen at least a few manta rays. Well, I guess tonight just wasn’t meant to be. We got into the water and in position. They turned the lights on. For the first few minutes the crew member said that the plankton needed a few minutes and the rays would likely show up soon…well, more then a few minutes went by and nothing other than a few fish. My wife and two kids were getting a bit crowded out on the float by other passengers, some of whom had a hard time speaking English. The crew did their best to try and move and space people around but by that time, my youngest daughter and wife were getting a little frustrated as was my older kid. After 15 -20minutes, it was clear that the crew was getting worried, and they started mentioning that they were really surprised but that of course with wild animals, there are no 100% guarantees and they offer a no questions asked redo tour to the later one or any future boat ride with availability. After another 10 minutes, several people will already heading back to the boat saying they didn’t feel well, and it was becoming increasingly clear that we were not going to have a happy ending with manta rays on this night. Upon returning to the boat, several passengers started throwing up in the provided buckets. The captain again said that there was less than a 7% chance of any of their excursions resulting in manta ray no-shows and that she personally had never not seen them at this site in over five years. I have no doubt that she meant well, but it sort of added insult to injury as this was our last full night of a weeklong vacation. While I appreciate the redo offer and the fact that it has no expiration date so long as the company remains in business, in practical terms it would involve planning a future trip to the big island or Oahu , and we live in the midwest so this is a 8 to 10 hour trip each way and extremely expensive. The 25 minute return trip to the dock was bouncy and stressful, with more passengers getting sick and my wife and kids nervous. I explained that this was the nature of the boat and the chop, and the captain was doing the best she could, and we were all safe. Again, the entire crew was very friendly, professional, and apologetic, but fair or unfair we came up short, multiple people on the boat got sick and there isn’t a clear path to a redo anytime soon. My advice to anyone contemplating this tour is perhaps book it at or towards the beginning of your trip to preserve the ability to reschedule for free if you are among the apparently very unlucky few to strike out on a sighting. As for us, we probably won’t be back for several years and it’s super frustrating but nothing we can do about it now. A rough end to an otherwise awesome vacation.

We had the most amazing, once in a lifetime experience with the best crew ever! Amy, Madi, Luke and Tamae went above and beyond. They were fun, kind and incredibly knowledgeable. Our son was apprehensive once he got out there and changed his mind about getting in the water. After sitting with Madi for a few minutes he was ready to get in and SO happy he did! You can tell the crew loves their jobs and love the Manta Rays as well.

Phenomenal experience with an amazing crew. We had one member of our party who wanted to join at the last minute and the crew managed to make space on the boat for them. We also had people who had never snorkeled before (including myself) and the whole crew made sure we all felt comfortable. We were very lucky to be able to see some manta rays during our experience. I highly recommend booking with them.

It was a great experience, would recommend taking Dramamine if get woozy at all, you have to have upper body strength to hold on while in water that is where the sea sickness came from. It was pretty awesome experience and would do again, but would take Dramamine the next time for sure.

This is a once in a lifetime experience. The rays come within inches under you. They really are gentle giants. You do need to be able to comfortably swim over to the platform and it’s the Pacific Ocean at night so be prepared to hold onto the floating platform for 30 minutes and to be able to lift yourself up the ladder with the boat rocking from side to side in the waves. But the crew is super helpful and the experience is the best. Also: spend the $ to rent a wet suit or bring one if you own one. The water is chilly at night. And they have prescription masks for those who are nearsighted. Awesome touch!

The crew, especially Maddie were terrific! I don’t have much snorkeling experience and I have never snorkeled at night, There’s not a lot of actual snorkeling so, it was easy. I would recommend it for people of all ages.

A must see adventure! Mitch Scott and Tamae made this outing magical! The Mantas were out in force. And the footage after helps me relive the excitement! This is a smaller boat which made it that much better!
