Very interesting walking tour finishing with a visit to a Teahouse hosted by the owner and a Maeko who performed two dances. The owner told us about the tradition of maeko and gaiko and then the maeko answered some questions. A fascinating insight in to the culture.

This was an excellent tour ked by Annie-- this is the best tour we had in Japan. Annie was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Meeting the Maiko, and hearing from her directly on her experience and life, and her training, was absolutely fascinating. This was an unparalleled insight and learning opportunity on this unique part of Japanese culture and society. My wife and I highly recommend this tour!

I highly recommend this experience. The tour guide Annie was very knowledgeable and really nice. The highlight was being able to see the Maiko-san dance to shamisen music played by her Okasan. Everyone was really attentive and made sure we felt comfortable. Don’t hesitate to invest in this rich experience. 10/10.

This tour in Kyoto was truly unforgettable. We had the rare opportunity to meet an actual geisha and a maiko, and watching her perform and dance was incredible. She even took the time to do a Q&A with us, which made the experience even more meaningful. I learned so much about the history and traditions of geisha culture, and it was absolutely fascinating.

We had a great experience with this tour, would highly recommend. Tour guide Machiko guided us through the streets of Kyoto and explained about the interesting Geisha life. After that we watched a short performance of a Maiko, very special to see! Because the group was relatively small (walking with 8, the performance with around 15), it felt like an intimate tour.

Taka was wonderful- we were able to see so much in 6 hours. He was very flexible on how we wanted to get around- taxis, walking, trolleys, subway and we used all of them at different points depending on how we were feeling. He provided great context and history and made us 3 women feel very comfortable. Took wonderful pictures and spoke fantastic English. Would definitely use again!

This was easily the most memorable part of our time in Kyoto. From the start, the organization was professional and the pacing was perfect. The guided walk through the atmospheric streets of Gion provided great insight into the geiko culture. Seeing the Maiko perform and having the chance to speak with her was a rare privilege. It felt very personal and wasn't rushed at all. It's a fantastic way to support and learn about these traditional arts. Don't forget your camera!
