The tour was a great mix of history and culture. The setting was quite busy but cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Many great photo opportunities. Our guide “Hide” was very knowledgeable of the history and did a fantastic job of answering all of our questions.

Takuma is a great guide, we had a wonderful time learning about the world of geisha. We visited multiple shrines, and he had stories for most of them, then moved on to Gion and visited several areas; each stop was informative and full of anecdotes. He timed the tour so we would be increasing our chances to see a geiko or maiko going to her evening appointments, and we did spot some. Takuma also answered the May questions I had about the geisha, the shrines and the houses in Gion.

I had a tour last week with Takuma Goda and his trainee Keiko. My friend and I were the only ones who turned up for the tour but Takuma and Keiko were professional and friendly. Takuma and Keiko were very informative about Kyoto in general and also the history of the Geisha district. It was absolutely fascinating! They happily and fully answered our many questions. Takuma and Keiko were a great team and the tour they gave us was excellent! Takuma even helped us find a restaurant on a busy Saturday night and it was excellent. We are home now and, after visiting Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto and Osaka, I can say that the walking tour of the Geisha district in Gion with Takuma and Keiko was my best experience in Japan!

The tour was made special by our wonderful guide, Miho, who was kind, patient, informative, funny and enthusiastic. The sights we saw were interesting and varied, at sunset, when the Geisha were on the street walking to their appointments.
