Desaru Beach
The Desaru Coast comes to life with an array of fascinating creatures at low tide. A hidden world often visited by the curious among us. Many interesting creatures that have been patiently waiting out the high tide appear during low tide to feed and interact. You may join on this fun and light walk with our naturalists.

5.00Udin was an excellent tour guide. He arrived on time to pick us up from our hotel and was very patient and knowledgeable to answer all our questions and provide information about the marine creatures. He even threw in bonus information about other jungle creatures around and the history of how Desaru got her name. He knew where exactly to find all the marine creatures and even caught some in a net to show them to us up close. (Of course, he let them go right after that!) We were a family with young children and Udin did not once rush us along, even when our 2 year old was straddling behind. Booking our tickets was very easy (I found the cheapest rates on GetYourGuide. Children below 5 go for free). Staff were very responsive over email and Whatsapp. I'd recommend bringing a sun hat, sun screen, insect repellent, waterproof phone holder and covered sandals / water shoes. Water and ponchos were provided by the guide. You'll need to walk about 5 minutes from where the van parks to get to the beach. After that, expect sandy, muddy (biomass) and rocky terrain.

4.00Really interesting look at a lot of creatures. I never would have imagined there was so much hiding among the rocks. Only suggestion I have is it would have been good to know we would walk through a forested area to get there, meaning a lot of mud and a lot of mosquitos. i would have liked to prepare for this.

5.00Amazing guided tour. It was such a privilege to be shown the native sea life, with more context including geology and flora. We saw sea creatures on our bucket list and were also entertained by monkeys and bird life. I cannot recommend this tour enough, definitely a highlight of our visit to Malaysia. Thankyou!

5.00Had a great time with Salam! He was very informative and provided a lot of fun facts about Desaru. We managed to spot lots of aquatic life during the low tide. I would definitely recommend bringing a sun hat or umbrella as the sun crept up pretty quickly. Also wear water shoes for the best experience.
