Splendid day touring Jiufen, Shifen and Houtong Cat Village with a private guide, Hicks, who was a pleasure! Hicks not only had excellent English, but he was cheerful, polite, and very knowledgeable about each of the areas we visited. Furthermore, he was exceptionally good at taking photos with my phone--so he helped preserve some wonderful memories. The day began with a lovely 50 minute drive to Shifen Waterfall which is just gorgeous, and we took a gentle walk-hike all around the area. Jiufen is an extraordinarily beautiful city with some of the finest cliff views of the ocean and island I have ever seen. The shops and cobblestone roads are colorful and fascinating to explore, especially near dusk. For cat lovers, Houtong Cat Village is a must--and while I am more of a dog person, I went to send pictures and information to my cat-loving sister. Lots of fun, busy day--well organized, smoothly run, and terrific guide, Hicks. YOLO travel did a wonderful job putting this package together and I do recommend it.

Vincent was very accommodating and personable. We had elderly and he made sure we took shortcuts to avoid as many stairs as possible. It is also truly door to door service. Picking up from the hotel was extremely convenient. I would recommend to those who want an English tour guide.

Roger was an awesome driver and guide. He showed us some of the best food spots in Jiufen, including for stinky tofu, and went above and beyond for us. We had a great day with him!

100% highly recommend YOLO Taiwan! We booked a full day private tour of Shifen Waterfall, Shifen Old Street, Houtong Cat Village, and Jiufen for 15 people. First, I have to give our tour guide Nana a huge thank you for her excellent information about each location, precise guidance to the best places to take photographs (she is a professional photographer and took the photos with the best angles!), patience for our large group with kids and seniors (we never felt rushed even though we had slower walkers), and overall wonderful experience! She could also speak English, Mandarin, or Taiwanese for our group. The bus was very comfortable to fit our 15 persons, and the driver was very skilled to navigate tight corners and drove very smoothly. Skip the “tour sites” like Viator and book directly with these local companies to save lots of money. We saved over $500 by booking directly, and I could customize our trip as needed . Frank was easy to communicate with to organize our trip. For our next tour, I would definitely book with YOLO and request Nana if I can! Thanks!

I am so glad I booked this private tour for our family of 5. Aaron came to pick us on time from the hotel and from there on it was pure magic as he know the best places/views/food. We released our family lantern took amazing pictures by the waterfall and ate delicious lunch with the view on the Pacific. Aaron told us alit about Taipei. Top experience! Highly recommend.

Trip feels too rushed. Lantern experience at Shifen was over in like, 5 mins (excluding decorating the lantern; & I think we were already quite fast in decorating it, took max 10 mins). Shifen waterfall was crowded too & we stayed for only a couple of minutes there to take photos & went off. No time to have coffee at cafe in Huotong or wander around to explore more. Waited too long for lunch at Jiufen. But our guide Toku was nice, pleasant & knowledgeable.

We hired a private driver with Get Your Guide for a day excursion to Juifen, Shifen, and Houtong Cat Village. Our driver was very attentive to details, picked us up five minutes earlier, and spoke very good English. Our driver was our guide also as we were led into the path to access viewing Shifen Falls, showed us where the sky lanterns were to purchase for release, as well as walk us through the narrow Juifen shopping street. There was no note in the day excursion stating where the tour would stop for lunch on our own but our driver had arranged for a lunch reservation at a local restaurant , Taro & Sweet Potato Tea House which was right next door to the famous Ah Mei Tea House. He helped to select recommended local dishes to try. Also, before the tour ended, our private driver stopped over at a local tea shop to taste so family owned tea - cold and hot brew. There was no pressure to purchase any of the bagged tea but we purchased some. It was worth to hire a private driver to visit these three areas as the time it takes to connect from one place another without a vehicle is time consuming and the wait for public transportation is another issue. I would recommend it but be prepared for the private driver to take you to a few more additional places to visit.
