The Beijing Palace Museum, formerly known as the Forbidden City, was the imperial palace of China's Ming and Qing dynasties. Situated at the center of Beijing's central axis, the complex is centered around the Three Great Halls and consists of over 70 palaces and more than 9,000 rooms. The architecture is divided into two main sections: the Outer Court and the Inner Court. The Outer Court, centered on the Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihedian), Hall of Central Harmony (Zhonghedian), and Hall of Preserving Harmony (Baohedian)—collectively known as the Three Great Halls—was used for major state ceremonies.

Additional Info

Embark on a curated half-day tour of the Palace Museum (Forbidden City), the former imperial residence of 24 Ming/Qing emperors and a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture. Choose morning or afternoon to avoid crowds, then meet your English-speaking guide for priority entry—skipping hours of ticket lines.
Explore iconic sites: Stand in awe of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, with its golden throne and massive wooden pillars; wander the Palace of Heavenly Purity, where emperors handled state affairs; and relax in the Imperial Garden, adorned with rockeries, pavilions, and ancient cypresses. Your guide will decode the palace’s layout (symmetrical design reflecting Confucian ideals), explain the significance of dragon motifs, and share tales of imperial life.
With no shopping detours or hidden fees, the tour focuses on the museum’s most breathtaking spots and historical depth. The small-group size ensures clear listening and opportunities to ask questions. Wear comfortable shoes for walking (the complex spans 720,000㎡) and prepare to be captivated by the grandeur of imperial China—from intricate architectural details to the stories behind the palace’s timeless charm.
