Qingshui Cliff
Qingshui Cliff, located between Heping and Chongde, is a wonder on the east coast of Taiwan and one of the eight great scenic spots in Taiwan. Qingshui Cliff is more than 1,000 meters high, facing the Pacific Ocean at an angle of almost 90 degrees. The road stretches for more than 20 kilometers and twists and turns. There are cliffs on one side and the vast sea on the other. Breathtaking.
Xiangde Temple
Xiangde Temple, which can be reached on foot from Taroko Tianxiang Recreation Area, faces deep streams and rushing water on three sides, with an altitude of 450 meters, surrounded by peaks, valleys and ravines. It is unforgettable.

Aaron was a very smooth and safe driver, which we really appreciated because it turned out to be a much longer trip than expected. The drive to the gorge had a lot of traffic due to ongoing repairs after the earthquake. Although the tour description says about 2.5 hours, it ended up taking closer to 4 hours each way, so it was a very long day. The scenery at the gorge was truly beautiful and worth seeing, but because of the current road conditions and renovations, I would personally recommend waiting until more of the repairs are finished before taking this tour. That said, Aaron did an excellent job making the best of a difficult situation. He stayed patient in the heavy traffic and kept the trip as comfortable as possible. We really appreciated his professionalism and calm driving throughout the long journey. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We decided to book last minute to take a trip to see Taroko Gorge. Grace picked us up and was very hospitable the entire time. Even though alot of the the Gorge was under renovation due to the 2024 earthquake, she did her best with her knowledge to show us all that was available. Would recommended!

Uncle Danny was great! Even though some parts of Hualien was closed due to the earthquake he found good alternatives and views of the Taroko gorge! Uncle Danny was very accommodating of our families needs. We'd recommend him again!

I was 15 minutes away from being picked up by "Taiwan Charlie" and I received a text that the guide's car broke down. They were looking for an English speaking back up driver. I knew they were going to cancel, which they did. I had a great day planned, but since this is a shady outfit, I had to go to plan B. Oh, and Taiwan Charlie offered to buy me lunch if I could take the tour the next day. Really, like I'm hanging around Taipei with extra time on my hands. Sorry Charlie, bad review.

This was a wonderful day trip, we had Oliver as our driver and guide and he was the best. Very knowledgeable and made the day so perfect! It is a longer drive to and from Taipei but worth it. Thank you to Charlie and Judy as well for finalizing our booking, overall a wonderful experience.

We had a great time seeing the sites at Taroko Gorge National Park. We really appreciated how there were so many stops, even just to hop out and get a quick picture at a nice viewpoint. We would highly recommend this tour, it’s a great way to see a lot in one day with a local guide.

Taiwan Charlie Chartered Tour is not a reputable company. Let me explain why...I booked this trip on a Wednesday for a Saturday tour that week. I upgraded to the 9-person van for my family of four (two adults and two kids) so we would.have more space as I knew the drive time was 2+ hours each way from Taipei City. I also updated my tour on Wednesday when I noticed the hotel pick up I initially selected was not correct. I received the first message from Taiwan Charlie Chartered Tour via the Viator app on Thursday confirming my reservation and that the driver/tour guide Danny will contact me. Unbeknownst to me, Danny reached out via WhatsApp and not through Viator. I was not expecting this and not have WhatsApp notifications enabled on my iPhone. Danny reached out on Thursday to let me know that the upgraded car was not available and to call Charlie to let him know. I did not see this message until Saturday, the morning of our tour. This message should've been communicated to me via Viator. Charlie never contacted me via Viator to let me know the transportation I selected was not available and did not offer to change the reservation to a standard car, which is half the price of the 9-person van. This is dishonorable. Charlie knew the van I paid for was unavailable but still kept my money. Charlie also did not give Danny the updated hotel information. I only discovered the messages on WhatsApp on Saturday morning as we were waiting for the Danny and the car. He was at the wrong hotel. Danny arrived in a car that seated us four, but my husband had to sit in the front passenger seat, something we wanted to avoid. The car smelled like cigarette smoke. We went on the tour which was fine but we experienced some headaches because of the cigarette smoke in the car. I notified Charlie via Viator after the tour on Saturday and he wrote "Sorry, I asked Danny to notify you two days ago to modify the order, but you haven't responded. Now I can't refund the difference, sorry! Charlie" This is dishonest for many reasons: 1. Danny contacted me outside of Viator. I believe per Viator, tour operators are supposed to communicate through their own platform. 2. Charlie's message to me on Saturday verifies that he knew the van I paid an upcharge for was unavailable but chose not to contact me via Viator earlier. If he had, I would have responded right away. 3. Charlie can still do the right thing and refund me the difference and chooses not to. In my travels, good tour companies will refund your booking at once if something amiss arises. Taiwan Charlie Chartered Tour is not such a company. Please do not use Taiwan Charlie Chartered Tour. If you do, make sure everything is right when you first book, Any updates on Viator are not communicated to Danny the driver/tour guide. Contact them first if you want to book the van to make sure it is available. Make sure you have WhatsApp to communicate with Danny.

Beautiful national park made special with the private guide and tour. Our guide was Danny. We had more flexibility with the schedule having a private vehicle vs other tour options like bus or shared van. Danny was polite and took many photos of us. On the hikes, he stayed in the car while my wife and I explored. This allowed us to go at our own pace! My only improve is wishing he explained more about the sites and history of the park. It was mostly a quiet car ride for the 2.5 hours each way. I also was not expecting to pay for his lunch during the tour.

If you are interested in stunning scenic views and imposing landscape, this is the tour for you. It is impressive to see how a road was carved into the mountain side and the many impressive bridges that were built. The gorge is a natural beauty to behold and reminds us how nature when left alone makes its own path. Though it was a 3 hour drive there and back, it was worth it.

Taiwan Charlie Chartered Tour was the tour company. We had a yellow taxi and driver driving our family for a 13-hour day tour. Tour company did not tell driver our tour itinerary which included 6 attractions/ sites. Driver only found out he had to take us to 4 more main attractions when I asked him ; about 6 hours after the start of our tour. Driver panically called owner of Charlie Chartered tour and they had an argument. 1 of the 4 attractions was very far and it was temporarily closed. That closure was publicly listed online. Tour company did not check closure of attraction sites or reserve entry time for another attraction site. There was an unexpected rock falling on the road causing traffic congestion to a third attraction site. Driver apologetically asked us to skip that main attraction. Overall, we only got to see 3 out of the 6 main attractions. It was a terrible experience not to mention our family including a child had to sit in a taxi for 13 hours during the tour. I would not recommend this tour company in Taiwan. However, Viator customer service is not willing to resolve our concern with this tour when we requested 50% refund to our tour cost. When I contacted Viator via Chat while still in Taiwan, the agent told me “there is nothing they can do. The supplier/tour operator only gave some refund and not amount we requested”. Since Viator is the company we purchased our tour from, we believe Viator need to refund us half the tour cost regardless if its tour partner (Charlie Chartered Tour) grant our request or not. We did not directly contact this tour operator company to purchase our tour. It should not be our responsibility to procure our refund. Our refund request was based on only HALF of our tour was completed.
