I've been an outdoor adventure guide in Big Bear for the last five years. I've been exploring all the best hiking trails in the Big Bear Valley for the last 20 years. It's hard to find an easy hike in Big Bear; A lot of trails are steep and hard for little kids. This trail is actually stroller-friendly also, which you can not say about a lot of hiking trails in the mountain communities.
I love the peace and solitude of this trail in the woods. It's hiked mostly by locals who live in this neighborhood and is not a tourist spot. I personally love to share the local history around the Big Bear Valley. I really enjoy pointing out different flora and fauna to my younger guests and teaching them how interesting nature can be like the wild native insects we might see on the trails

There is so much unique nature for children and families to experience in Big Bear Lake. Take a family-friendly walk with me into the woods and let me teach you and your family about our native plants and the history of the Big Bear Valley. I will explain all the different plants and trees we will see on the hike and even munch on wild plants we see growing seasonably on the trailside. I will tell you and your family stories about the animals who live in this forest, even showing your children animal tracks, owl pellets and if we see any butterflies I will teach your children the secrets to taking the best butterfly photos. I love sharing my knowledge of this wilderness with young guests to Big Bear. As an outdoor enthusiast, I have so many tales to entertain families about our local Big Bear wildlife. If we meet any butterflies on the trail I will even give your children a quick lesson on butterfly photography! I feel like getting kids interested in nature when they are young is a great way to influence the future generations of outdoor lovers. Big Bear Lake is a great alpine area to learn about our local plants and animals.

Amber is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot about the flora and fauna of Big Bear, and got to hike some of the iconic Pacific Crest Trail! Well worth it. Plus she gave us refreshments at the end!

Loved everything about it! Amber was so knowledgeable and gave a lot of great information during the hike. She found a beautiful area that was family friendly and even easy enough for my 74 year old mom to be able to join in. We loved all the amazing fall colors on this hike and my two boys were so excited to explore several tree forts and a wooden sea saw to play with during our hike.

Amber took our family of 4 on a moderate 2 hour hike. My 10 and 12 year olds griped about no IPads so we knew we were doing something right. 😀 Amber provided lots of information about Big Bear, the history, the plants and animals, and some good recommendations for food - we LOVED Sonoro Cantina! She was also gracious enough to take a few nice family photos before and during the hike, which was much appreciated. We also added on the 1 hour lunch on Amber’s boat and enjoyed cooling down in the lake after a hot and dusty hike! Would highly recommend.

Amber is a real big bear guide! She shares her knowledge in love this beautiful place! The weather was beautiful, but we actually ended up leaving my camera at the top of the hike! We tried to get it later that day, but didn’t think we’d be able to find it. The morning this beautiful friend actually retrieved it for us.❤️ pretty easy hike, even for us old people with stunning views. I’m sure the best view of the lake that we’ve ever had.!

We had a great time! We had 3 kids, one in a stroller, and we all made it! The hike was not a problem at all for my 7 year old and was a great experience for her. We would do it again. Thanks!
