Cat Ba National Park
Arrive at the National Park entrance, pay the entrance fee, and embark on an invigorating trek. Immerse yourself in the vibrant tropical forest as you encounter an array of wildlife, including agile minks, curious squirrels, playful monkeys, colorful butterflies, and perhaps even the elusive yellow-headed langur, a rare primate listed in the Red Book. Conquer three mountains known locally as "Ang Vắt," "Mây Bầu," and "Ang Phay."After completing a 2.5-hour trek covering approximately 6 kilometers, reach the Frog Pond, the largest freshwater lake nestled amidst the National Forest. From the pond's depths, towering "Va Nuoc" trees reach skyward, a species unique to the Frog Pond and found nowhere else on Cat Ba Island. Observe the diverse fish and crab species inhabiting the pond, and take a well-deserved 30-minute break. Continue your trek from Frog Pond, ascending the final mountain named "Doc Dài" to reach Viet Hai village, a tranquil ancient settlement of approximately 100 families.
Viet Hai Village
During our trekking trip through Cat Ba National Forest, we will stop at Viet Hai Village. Here we will have a foot massage at the fish stream, and have lunch at the restaurant with dishes imbued with the cultural identity of the local people. Next, we will cycle to visit the Village and move to the wharf to board the boat to visit Vinh Lan Ha. Viet Hai is a village deep in Cat Ba National Park with pristine beauty and extremely peaceful. This place will truly bring visitors interesting experiences and discoveries

Our guide was spectacular. The trekking though challenging, was amazing with stunning views. The lunch, bicycle tour and boat were great. We also managed to ride kayak. It was a really good day. I recommend to those who like adventure tourism without visiting the main points of the island.

"Wow" about sums up this tour. We didn't know quite what to expect and so this tour really was a great experience. Our tour guide was awesome in explaining the forest including sharing a taste of some plants that are used for medicinal purposes, fresh fruits, and terrain. I'm not going to spoil the surprise by going into every detail although I have plenty of wonderful things to say. I will warn those around my age (58) that this was very physically challenging for me and I am in good physical shape so just be aware! The day ended with a fantastic relaxing boat ride in which another guide was very informative of the area.

I chose this experience because it offered something different - a half day treck - in addition to what other providers were offering. It was a full day of activity including treking, bicycling, kayaking and swimming as well as a generous lunch and the opportunity to experience tiny fish massaging your feet after the trek. The trekitself had both easy and more challeging sections. Our guide was generous with information about the local flora and fauna. There was an additional person at the rear of the group to assist those requiring assistance in the more challenging sections of the treck. The group were passed two or three times by younger, more athletic groups adept and navigating the terrain faster. (The time of 2.5 hours for the trek is inaccurate and is probably the time, the guide Linh could complete it, without a group; more like 3.5 hours)

Hieu was a great and very likeable guide who could also tell a lot about flora and fauna. The tour is beautiful. Unfortunately, the description does not say that the tour can be very strenuous for some and is not suitable for everyone. You secretly hike about 10 km, of which a large part requires sure-footedness and you often also need your hands to climb out and down. In my group were two sympathetic Indian couples who had little trekking experience and need a lot of time. For me there was only a little time left for the second part of the tour (cycling and trekking) that fans I manage. Hieu, the guide brought a lot of patience and joy and managed to satisfy all of them anyway. If it rained, I wouldn't do this tour, I imagine it very dangerous to find a foothold by the then slippery stones.

We just spent a great day hiking around the national park, biking through Viet Hai village and then getting on a small cruise with some swimming and kayaking! Hieu and Canh are great guides, Hieu’s english is really good and he was always hyping us up and giving lots of nice info on the park and the island. Canh was making sure everyone is safe and taking great pictures. Would definitely recommend :)

The Tour was an amazing experience. Hieu is a great and experienced guide and he was exceptional helpful in getting us back to hanoi after the trip. The trekking itself was a bit hard but this made it an authentic experience in a less crowded area.

The tour was great, our guide Hieu very good! Earring from us always! If it rains it is quite slippery and you have to be careful, there are also quite a few steps!! Going through the village by bike and getting there to the port is fantastic as well as hanging out in Lan Ha bay, a paradise!

I highly recommend this trekking very diverse in sports activities and which puts us full of extraordinary landscapes. An unforgettable experience in the jungle of Cat Ba, in the village and in Lan Ha Bay, on foot, by bike , by boat, and by kayak... Our guide was adorable, and showed us the biodiversity of this island and its forest. It is an intense experience of encounters, discovery of nature but also sporting efforts.
