Discover Berlin’s history by learning how to read and understand its buildings on a guided, three-hour Understand Berlin through architecture, not just dates and landmarks. Many tours use buildings as a backdrop, this tour treats them as historical evidence.
As an architect, I (Natalie) focus on how urban planning, housing, materials, and spatial decisions reflect political ideas, social priorities, and moments of rupture in Berlin’s history.
Rather than moving quickly between highlights, the tour slows down to ask why the city looks the way it does, and what those choices meant for the people who lived here.
By focusing on the built environment, the tour offers a clearer, more grounded way of understanding the city. Through the built environment, the tour connects politics and history to everyday life.

Museum Island
Visit Museum Island, but not to talk about the museums, rather to learn to identify what architects communicate, and why the Prussian's started building in the style of the Ancient Greeks.

I had the BEST experience with Emma. She took us around town and we were able to learn great things about the culture and the history of the city. She is passionnate and she KNOWS her history. I am a history teacher, so I asked very difficult questions and she always gave quite insightful answers. She also gave us great recommendations for lunch spots and she helped us prepare our afternoon. Thank you so much Emma and auf wiedersehen.

Excellent walking tour - our tour guide was Dylan. He gave us a lot of historical information about Berlin without making it too serous.

I have been on many tours all over the place, and Natalie may be best ever. Fun, knowledgeable, and so interesting. Not to miss if you are in Berlin.
